7 Ways to Relax After Finals Week

Hi, friends! Yesterday I took my last final, and that marks the end of my junior year of college. In honor of the end of finals week, I wrote this post about ways to unwind after finals week. Congratulations on all of your hard work this past semester, and I hope this is the start of a great summer! So here are a few ways to relax after finals week.

Don’t worry about your final grade

It’s so hard to NOT worry about your final grade, especially if you don’t know how well you did on your final exam. But you need to recognize that at this point, there’s not much more you can do to change your final grade. Rather than stress out over something you can’t change, try to forget about it and focus on the amazing summer you have ahead! (Don’t be like me, who spent yesterday constantly checking Blackboard to see if my final test grade had been posted yet…)

Send your teachers a thank you e-mail

It’s sad that professors don’t get much appreciation for their hard work. At the end of every semester, I email the professors whose classes I really enjoyed, or whom I’ve learned a lot from, and I let them know. If a professor truly impacted you, or you enjoyed/learned a lot from their class, let them know. It’ll only take a few minutes for you to write out that email, but it’ll make their day to hear that they have helped out a student (after all, that is their job!).

You can say something like,

“Dear Professor A,

I am in your X class, and I just wanted to say that I enjoyed it very much! You are a great teacher and I learned so much from you this semester. I’m sure the skills I learned in X class will help me in Y (the next level class in the sequence) next semester.

Have a great summer, Aly”

Watch your favorite TV show

If you’re like me, chances are that lately you’ve had to miss the latest episodes of your favorite TV show because you’ve been studying for finals (sorry, Flash!) But now that you’re done, you can spend time binge watching the episodes you’ve missed. You’ve earned it! (You guessed it, I’ve spent the last few days watching The Flash!)

Catch up on the blog (or any other hobbies you’ve been laying off on)

Similarly, if you haven’t had time to catch up on writing blog posts (or on reading others’ blog posts), now’s the time! This doesn’t only to blogging, it also applies to any other hobbies you’ve put on hold due to finals, whether it’s YouTube, art, photography, or writing. Get back into your hobbies!

Treat yourself

Just like the last two points, you’ve earned a treat. Whether it’s going out to a special restaurant or a concert, or ordering your favorite sugary drink at Starbucks. You worked hard these past sixteen weeks, you deserve it!

Hang out with friends

What better time to hang out with friends than your break? Call up your friends and have a night out (or even a night in!). It’s a great way to catch up and to celebrate the end of the semester. Personally, my friends and I had a night in and we had so much fun.

Plan your summer trips

If you haven’t already, it’s time to plan your summer trips! Usually, my family would spend a few days on the beach or in Disney World, but this summer will be different due to my internship. But even if it’s a day on the town or a trip to the movie theater, try to plan something fun that you can look forward to!

    I love those tips to relax that you gave! I love setting aside a day to watch my favorite tv shows and do some face mask/foot soaks to help me relax. I have to admit it’s so hard for me not to keep checking Blackboard every hour for my final grades to be posted.

        Yea you should definitely try it next time you need to relax. My favorite is the Glamglow Supermud face mask.
